The reason for the timing of this announcement is obvious, I don't think we really need to discuss NFB's onesidedness in this. Nevertheless I am surprised they were willing to work with Apple, given how dead set against them they have been up until now. To me this shows Apple's commitment more than NFB's, being willing to work with an organization that until now has done nothing but slander and spread misinformation about them. I was wondering how the NFB would react, I guess I have my answer now. It must stick in their throats like a bad apple :). I just hope this isn't an attempt by the NFB to try and get apple to downplay accessibility in OS X in the long run. If NFB and Apple are in an agreement who knows what they'll try to do? We already saw it happen with Narrator. Here's hoping some of the blindness companies don't start developing extremely expensive screen readers for OS X and undermind everything Apple has done.

I agree that the timing of this announcement is rather circumspect. I'm also confused as to why Apple would give $250,000 to the Mass commission? At least Apple can't become NFB's next "Target."
