This is definitely encouraging news on the front of accessibility. I am a graduate student studying accessibility to ProTools at ryerson University in toronto. I knew DigiDesign was working on accessibility, however I initially thought the efforts were going to be years down the road given their release cycle.

As a bit of background, I've been in contact with a professor in the Czech Republic who wrote a program to provide access to ProTools for another blind gentleman in the Czech Republic. While this may seem moot given Slao's news, there were a few things this professor mentioned in his paper.

One of the most interesting parts of the article was a section in which he described writing an OCR algorithm for his software to interface with ProTools. This was running Protools LE version 7 on a PowerPC. Again, moot considering the news, but the one line near the end of the article that caught my interest described the OCR algorithm allowing the blind user of ProTools to access over 80 plugins.

I'll be definitely weighing in on this story as it unfolds as my M.A. will depend on it. Slao, save some interview time for me!

I just hope an accessible version of ProTools doesn't put me out of a thesis.

Thanks to Slao, David and the team at DigiDesign for making this happen.
