Apple Briefly Mentions Accessibility At Annual Shareholders Meeting

26 February, 2010 @ 11:29 am by Lioncourt

Yesterday, APple held it’s annual shareholders meeting. The meeting included over an hour’s worth of questions answered by CEO Steve Jobs, COO Tim Cook, and CFO Peter Oppenheimer. Most of the discussion revolved around the company’s efforts regarding environmental issues, management, and acquisitions.

One shareholder and former Apple employee, asked why Apple will not be attending this year’s national accessibility conference. Jobs responded to the question himself, noting Apple doesn’t participate in conferences, as it would mean "we wouldn’t be here working." He went on to point out that Apple’s customers have been doing a great job keeping the company informed of outstanding issues and pointing out when it’s falling short.

He concluded his comments with something that anyone who has followed the accessibility of Apple products over the last five years already knows: Apple leads the computing industry in accessibility.

Good on Apple. They are a mainstream company, their products are accessible out of the box and their end users tell them what needs to be known. I get a distinct feeling if they went to one of those conferences they would be chewed up and spat out by some. So let them work hard and continue making and creating great products for us all to use. :) and o Steve is so right, Apple are leading in the computer world for me at any rate. But on a real level their financial rates in the past two quarters speak volumes and those of us within the VI community know how far Apple’s greatness keeps on spreading. If they’re working, at least we have the full confidence their work is continued and not just stops at the basics like some others.
